FPS Gaming Without The Gun – Warco Gives You A Video Camera

By

Warco – The News Game is a recently unveiled FPS-style game in development where the player takes on the role of a war correspondent tasked with collecting video from the battlefield. Instead of the standard bloody clashes with enemy forces, the game challenges the player to dodge bullets and capture attractive footage. Warco is the brainchild of Australian war correspondent Tony Maniaty and filmmaker Robert Connolly, who teamed up with games studio Defiant Development. The game looks rather interesting and I’m shocked that I haven’t heard of it until today! Warco short for War Correspondent doesn’t have a release date yet.

Developed as a partnership between Brisbane, Australia based Defiant Development, filmmaker Robert Connolly and journalist Tony Maniaty, Warco is a videogame that examines the frontline from a new direction. In the role of war correspondent (‘warco’) Jesse DeMarco, the player must capture battle footage and edit together a news story, while trying to make it out alive. All footage is taken from the proof of concept playable developed in UDK – all in game, barring the final news story which would be edited together by the player from the war footage they’ve captured.
