Rumor Mill – Apple iPhone 5 Release Date is October 4th
Apple will unveil its next-generation iPhone at an event on Tuesday, October 4, according to a report on AllThingsD, a Wall Street Journal blog network. The phone will be available to consumers “within a few weeks” of that announcement, the publication says, citing unnamed sources. The smartphone likely will be called the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 4S, according to the common wisdom on tech blogs.
And while the iPhone 5 is a much-anticipated handset, the event itself has a lot more importance for Apple than many previous ones. Thats because it will be newly installed CEO Tim Cooks first big product introduction, and the place where the public will get a first lengthy impression of him that may well set the tone for Cooks new role. And thats why, said sources, although hes never quarterbacked an Apple product announcement before, Cook is certain to preside over the iPhone 5 rollout.
