MSI Claims That Gigabyte Fakes PCIe 3.0 on Motherboards

By

On August 9th, 2011 Gigabyte made a claim that all of their Intel 6 series boards were 22nm CPU ready and offered native support for PCI Express Gen 3. It appears that MSI didn’t like that claim and released a presentation done by the companies engineers in Taiwan that claims only one of the 43 boards is truly PCI Express Gen 3 compliant! What board is okay? The Gigabyte G1.Sniper 2 gets the okay from MSI when it comes to offering real PCIe 3.0 support. So, according to MSI most of Gigabytes boards are far from ready for native PCIe Gen. 3 support. We posted all 14 of the presentation slides rebutting Gigabyte’s claims in our forums here.
