Sony Announces Super Small NEX-7 Camera w/ 24.3 Megapixels

By

Sony has launched the companies latest and greatest high-performance compact camera and I have to say that it looks mighty impressive on paper. The camera is called the NEX-7 and it ousts the NEX-5 as the flagship pint sized camera. The Sony NEX line gives you the optical performance of a DSLR camera, interchangeable lenses and a super compact body. The end result is a camera that is capable of shooting photos unlike what most people would think a compact could do. The Sony NEX-7 ha a 24 Megapixel EXMOR sensor, which just happens to be the same exact one that is used in the Alpha a77/a66 DSLR that was also announced today. Not only should the images be amazing, but the NEX-7 can capture 1080p video at 60 frames per second (FPS) in AVCHD format that can be used to burn Blu-Ray discs (This is Sony of course). The camera also has an MP4 option which records 30 FPS at 14401080 or 640480 movies that is more ideal for those that want to upload movies to file sharing services. If that isn’t impressive enough there 1024768 pixel OLED display that serves as a view finder. The NEX-7 ultra-compact interchangeable lens digital camera will be available this November in a kit with an exclusive black 18-55mm zoom lens for about $1350, or as a body-only for about $1200. To help you forget about the price did we mention it was only 10.3 ounces?
