AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series Video Cards to Be PCIe 3.0 Ready

By

Rumor on the street has it that the upcoming AMD Radeon HD 7000 series of video cards will be PCI-Express Generation 3.0 compliant. Don’t worry though as PCIe 3.0 will be fully backwards-compatible with PCIe 1 and 2 motherboards. The AMD Radeon HD 7000 series video cards are said to be produced using a 28nm process at TSMC and are codenamed ‘Southern Islands’. A number of Intel Z68 motherboards have come out that are running PCIe Gen 3 x16 slots and all upcoming Intel X79 motherboards are said to be running PCIe Gen 3 (we hope).
