Gigabyte Announces 14-inch Sandy Bridge Barebone Notebook – GS-AHG3N

By

White box notebooks used to be popular for the Do-It-Yourself enthusiasts back in 2004-2005, but they never really took off and quickly faded away from the spotlight. Gigabyte still makes barebone notebooks that don’t have a CPU, memory, optical drive or storage drive in them. Today, the company announced a new that looks pretty sweet called the GS-AH6G3N. This notebook is based on the Intel Huron River platform, which means that it is ready for Intel Sandy Bridge processors. Notable features include a 14-inch display with a resolution of 1366×768, a pair of USB 2.0 ports, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, a standard 6-cell battery rated at 2600mAh and an optional 3-cell 2100mAh battery that goes in the optical drive bay. Gigabyte says the GS-AH6G3N should last about 7 hours, which can be extended to 10 hours with a second battery. This of course depends on what components that you decide to use inside.

The GS-AH6G3N offers all the important features that each good business notebook should have. Probably the most critical feature, the GS-AH6G3N has a power autonomy of about 7 hours, which can be extended to 10 hours with a second battery docked in the swappable ODD bay (this bay can also dock a second HDD). The GS-AH6G3N includes two USB 3.0 ports, enabling superfast transfer rates of up to 5Gbs. This new technology will make users experience a speed about 10 times faster than the previous USB 2.0, which of course will still be compatible with USB 3.0 ports. Moreover, USB 3.0 also delivers a 9 times bigger power transfer, which means a much faster charge of external devices such as cell phones, MP3 players, and so on.
