Sony Uncertain if Your Credit Card Information Was Stolen in PSN Hack

By

Things are starting to look pretty bad for Sony as the outage of the Sony PlayStation Network looks like it was due to something more sinister like a hack of the network to get developer files and possibly your personal information. It is starting to sound like Sony pulled the plug on their network once they found out malicious activity was going on and they knew of no other way to stop if from happening. The worst part of it is that Sony says that the company is not sure if credit card and any other personal information was compromised. Time will tell if Credit card information was stolen and if it was then up to 75 million people are likely to be very upset. This outage is the most serious faced by the service since it began in 2006 and we hope the PlayStation Network gets back online soon.

Various Credit Cards

Sony has yet to determine the full scope of an attack on its PlayStation Network and Qriocity services that has left more than 75 million people without access for more than four days. The company is conducting a “thorough investigation” into the outage, said Satoshi Fukuoka, a spokesman for Sony Computer Entertainment in Tokyo. He declined to provide more information about the nature of the problem, which Sony has blamed on an “external intrusion” into the network.
