Overkill: How to Erase a CD With High Voltage!

I’m not sure this is what you would call erasing a CD, but it most certainly does fry off the metallic coating from it! Once you are done with this process the CD should be ready to be recycled as all that is left is plastic. It would be interesting to see what happens if you tried this with a DVD. CDs have the metallic layer simply on one side of the disk. DVDs have their metallic layer sandwiched between two layers of polycarbonate.
