Google Earth Shows Before & After Images Of Japan Earthquake And Tsunami

Over the weekend, Google released its first satellite images of Japan since the 8.9-magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami hit on Friday afternoon. Images from GeoEye and IKONOS can be seen using Google Earth and viewed on your computer. The pictures are very sobering as you can see just how devastating the damage is.

“We’re working to provide this data directly to response organizations on the ground to aid their efforts,” Ryan Falor, Google Crisis Response team, said in a Google Lat Long Blog post. “We hope this new updated satellite imagery is valuable for them as well as everyone else following this situation to help illustrate the extent of the damage.”
