The HyperX Memory Fan

Kingston introduced the HyperX memory cooling fan at the beginning of summer to ensure that memory kits are kept nice and cool. Designed with the gamer and PC enthusiast in mind, its dual 60mm fans optimize airflow around the modules to help memory run at peak performance for longer periods of time. Decreasing the temperature of the modules also increases the lifespan of them and how far they can be overclocked. A memory fan is often overlooked when building a gaming PC and it really shouldn’t be. The Kingston HyperX Fan can be shipped to your door for just $23.02, which isn’t a bad price for the extra cooling it offers. The fan is available as a standalone product or comes bundled with Kingstons 6GB 2000MHz and 1800MHz triple-channel memory kits with the T1 heat spreaders for Intel Core i7 systems. Today, we will be taking a closer look at the standalone kit.

The Kingston HyperX Fan arrives in the cardboard box shown above that has a security seal on it and a picture of the fan. The fan itself is made of anodized aluminum in the same familiar blue color as the HyperX heat spreaders that is found on many of the HyperX memory kits. When turned on, the fan blades are illuminated by eight small blue LEDs, so if you are looking for something eye catching this will certainly do the trick.

Inside the box, Kingston has wrapped all of the the KHX-FAN parts in plastic for extra protection of the finish and is surrounded by a combination of egg crate foam and bubble wrap.

Taking everything out of the box and the protective plastic you can get a better idea of what comes with the HyperX fan and how simple it is to install. The HyperX fan comes with four thumbscrews and washers that are used to hold the sides to the main cross section. Once it’s all assembled it just clips over the memory clips of the motherboards DIMM slots.
