By

AMD has unveiled Interlagos, an architecture based on the newest 8-core Bulldozer processor with more than 1 billion transistors. Interlagos will have up to 16 cores and 4 channels of DDR-3 memory perfect for HPC environments. This new platform is designed to be a natural upgrade for AMD’s Opteron 4100 and 6100 Series because the user will not have to upgrade BIOS, drivers, or associated software – just pop in the new processor and enjoy the speed enhancements. Announced a few days ago, AMD sent us a link to show off just how easy the upgrade will be.
