AMD has announced a university kit to help any university establish a semester-long course on OpenCL. Seems many universities steer away from bleeding edge technologies to focus on the basics, so it will be interesting to see what schools take advantage of this and add an OpenCL class to their curriculum! In the ‘real world’ learning about new technology is gold!
AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the introduction of the OpenCL University Kit, a set of materials that can be leveraged by any university to assist them in teaching a semester course in OpenCL programming. This effort underscores AMDs commitment to the educational community, which currently includes a number of strategic research initiatives, to enable the next generation of software developers and programmers with the knowledge needed to lead the era of heterogeneous computing.
