You Can Now Play Doom on Select Texas Instruments Calculators!

By

Here at Legit Reviews we get asked all the time if something can play Doom or Crysis all the time. We heard about clones of Doom running on some high-end calculators years ago, but now it looks like the real game has been ported over and is playable on the Texas Instruments TI-nSpire calculator (starting at $128 shipped). The people over at omnimaga made it happy and the port is officially called nDoom. Sure, the game crashes after 20-60 seconds and it doesn’t run all that well, but it is damn cool seeing it run on a calculator!

After seeing clones of Doom arriving on calculators a few years ago, the real game is finally arriving on them! It’s still in beta, though: As for now, the game runs for 20-60 seconds then freezes randomly. This is the project discussion board: http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?board=153.0 (Some animated GIF captures can be found there. They look much clearer than in the video, but the framerate is much slower)
