Google Music to Launch With Motorola Xoom

By

Google is all set to launch a music service to directly compete with Apples iTunes music store. Sanjay Jha, Chief Executive of Motorola Mobility, announced that Honeycomb, the upcoming version of Googles Android mobile operating system will enable the new music service. The release seems to be tied to the release of the Motorola Xoom tablet that is expected to be released in the next few months. Time will tell if Googles music service will eat into Apples iTunes market share that has a 66% of worldwide digital music sales.

At the time, Google vice-president Vic Gundotra said that its technology would be used in a desktop application offering remote access to music and unprotected films to Android devices.
