WD Scorpio Blue 1TB Notebook Hard Drive Review

ATTO Disk Benchmark v2.46

ATTO is one of the oldest hard drive benchmarks that is still used
today. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It
measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the
data into graphs that you can easily interpret. The test was run with
the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes with the total
length being 256mb.

Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1TB:

ATTO Disk Benchmark v2.46 Results

Benchmark Results: The WD Scorpio Blue 1TB 2.5-inch laptop hard drive was able to reach 119MBps on the read test and 119MBps on the write test in the Overlapped I/O benchmark. This was much faster than the 73MB/s read and 74MB/s write speeds sen on the Hitachi 5K500 320GB drive.

4MB File Size Benchmark Results: The WD Scorpio Black 750GB notebook drive was able to reach 129MBps on the read test and 124MBps on the write test in the Overlapped I/O benchmark , so the WD Scorpio Blue 1TB drive wasn’t too far behind with solid 119MBps read and write result. Both of these drives showed the apparent weakness of the Hitachi 5K500 320GB 5400RPM drive with just 71MB/s read and 74MB/s write speeds.
