HD Tune Pro 5.70 is an extended version of HD Tune which includes many new features such as write benchmark, secure erasing, AAM setting, folder usage view, disk monitor, command line parameters and file benchmark.
Read Performance Testing
Benchmark Results: The WD Blue 2TB hard drive had an average read speed of 117.7 MB/s with a burst speed of 354.4 MB/s and an access time of 15.7 ms. The read performance is fairly linear and started out at around 155 MB/s on the outer edges of the platters before slowing to 70 MB/s on the inner sectors.
Benchmark Results: The WD Blue 2TB hard drives random access read benchmark comes in with some pretty solid results and we were impressed that the max access time was around 30ms for transfer size of 512 Bytes to 64KB, but on larger transfer sizes we saw over 100ms access times.
Write Performance Testing
Benchmark Results: The WD Blue 2TB had an average write speed of 107.2 MB/s with a burst speed of 318.4 MB/s and an access time of 17.3ms. The minimum speed was found to be just 53.9 MB/s.
Benchmark Results: The WD Blue 2TB random access write benchmark came in with decent scores on the smaller transfer sizes, but 1MB transfer sizes and Random write transfers really slow down with access times of over 300ms.
File Testing
Benchmark Results: The file benchmark results look good with around 150 MB/s read and writes for most file sizes over 16KB. The drive felt warm to the touch during use, but never got much hotter than 37C during light use.
