Valve Announces $50 Streaming Box – Steam Link
Have you heard about Valve’s Steam Link living room gaming device that costs just $50? Steam Link is expected to be released in November 2015 and will allow PCs, Macs, and Linux systems to stream any or all of their Steam-related content across the same local network at 1080p 60Hz with low latencies. For another $50 you can opt for a version that runs $100 that comes bundled with a Steam Controller in the United States.
The Steam Link was on the Steam Store yesterday, but overnight Valve removed it from the store for reasons unknown. Images from the store listing show that the Steam Link has three USB ports (one up front, two in the back) along with Ethernet, HDMI and power ports. This is certainly one of the lowest priced streaming boxes at GDC 2015, but keep in mind that you still need a gaming PC powerful enough to run and stream the games in the home.
