Retail AMD Ryzen CPUs Pictured For The First Time
Pictures have surfaced online over at VideoCardz that show over 80 AMD Ryzen processors sitting on a table! Each of the processor lids has Ryzen laser etched into them and they look mighty pretty and look like they need to be benchmarked and overclocked! Could these be what the final retail processors look like?
The site also has some images of what they think is an early Ryzen engineering sample processor without the Ryzen marking on the lid. AMD Ryzen processors will ship with a 1331 PGA socket for the AMD AM4 platform. AMD is standing behind PGA packaging and believes that it is more reliable than Intel’s LGA packaging. It is thought that AMD increased number of pin contacts on the new AM4 platform to improve the long term use of the platform and since all the new AMD AM4 APUs and CPUs come with integrated southbridges. This means that many of those pins will be used for the added PCI Express lanes and USB devices.
