Powerline Network Adapter Shootout

Powerline Speed Test Results – 2nd Room

When we moved our test to the 2nd room in the house, we wanted to make sure that we were separated by at least one electrical breaker. The outlets were approximately 50-feet away from each other on separate breakers. We again set up our Zbox Nano as a remote Secondary Computer with each Powerline and measured network speed using our LAN Speed Test v2.0 program.

The results were fairly interesting in that our lowest performer from the Same Room test Netgears XAV5004 made a significant comeback with a strong showing in transfer speeds putting it near the top performer.

The D-Link unit took the crown for the fastest performer at this distance with a 10% advantage in Read Speed over the Netgear unit. The D-Link adapter was about 16% faster than the TrendNET unit as well. The Belkin brought up the back with speeds that were well below the pack.

Our real world test continued to impress us as each Powerline network adapter was able to play all of the 720p files that we through at it. When we tried to stream the 1080p, each one of our players were able to start the movie but after about 30-40 seconds, suffered from stuttering making a movie-watching experience impossible.
