Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 Now Available To Pre-Order
Starting yesterday, Oculus began taking pre-orders for the Oculus Rift DK2, a refined version of the Crystal Cove prototype that was shown off at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2014) in January. This is a major step ahead for Oculus as it is the final developer kit before the long-awaited consumer version will hit the market sometime in the future.
The Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 will ship this July for $350. The big new features are low-latency positional head tracking, low persistence OLED display and a built-in latency tester. If you currently own the original Oculus Rift Development Kit and are wondering if you can trade it in or return it for an Oculus Rift Development Kit 2, the answer is simple. Oculus is not accepting trade-ins or returns for credit toward a Development Kit 2 purchase.
