NVIDIA GRID Game Titles

When NVIDIA first launched the GRID cloud gaming service in November 2014, they were streaming games at 720p60 (1280 x 720 resolution at 60 frames per second) on about 20 games. NVIDIA today announced that they are now streaming at up to 1080p60 (1920 x 1080 resolution at 60 frames per second)! Not all of the 50+ game titles in NVIDIA’s GRID game library are able to be played at 1080p Full HD though. This very second NVIDIA supports about 35 games that can stream up to 1080p60, including Batman: Arkham Origins, GRID 2, and Ultra Street Fighter 4. NVIDIA claims that they are the first cloud gaming service that is streaming games at 1080p60 and that is the same resolution as Blu-ray movies.

“There are hundreds of millions of HDTVs that support 1080p, its the standard for cable and satellite network broadcasts, and is the resolution of Blu-ray movies. Movies stream at 1080P, but streaming games is different than streaming movies. Streaming movie services have the benefit of buffering the content, and slowing streaming it to users. If there is a delay from when you press play to when the movie starts, most users wont mind. Streaming games requires advanced gaming supercomputers in the cloud which respond in milliseconds to buttons pressed on a gamepad. We have spent years perfecting cloud gaming and have made it a seamless, amazing experience for our users.” – NVIDIA PR

To get 1080p Full HD gaming going with the NVIDIA GRID service, NVIDIA recommends that you have an internet connection that is capable of at least 30Mbps download speeds (50Mbps is recommended) and a 802.11ac dual-band router so that you can run on the 5GHz Wi-Fi network. If you have the right infrastructure you can enable 1080p60 cloud gaming by doing the following steps on your SHIELD:

  • Connect SHIELD device to a 1080p TV over HDMI and run it in console mode.
  • Download SHIELD Hub Beta App. To get it, please visit this website and search for How to Join the SHIELD Hub Public Beta
  • Start playing GRID and our system will stream supported games to you at 1080p60, based upon your Internet download speed.

NVIDIA has 6 data centers around the world, including: USA North West, USA South West, USA East Coast, Northern Europe, Central Europe and Asia Pacific. Hopefully one is close enough to give you a good gaming experience!

Happy Gaming and keep in mind that the NVIDIA GRID gaming service is available for free for SHIELD owners through June 30, 2015!
