Kingston Shows What is Inside a HyperX Predator 512GB Flash Drive

Earlier this month we reviewed a Kingston HyperX Predator 512GB USB 3.0 Flash drive and found it to be an impressive drive that offered tons of storage space and quickly transferred files. We didn't take apart the drive because we were afraid to break the $800 loaner test unit, but Kingston promised to send us over photos of what the inside looks like.

True to their word, Kingston today sent over several internal shots of the Kingston HyperX Predator 512GB Flash drive that we already reviewed. Check out these awesome tear down shots!

Looking at the fully assembled USB Flash drive it doesn't look that different from a smaller capacity version, but notice that the PCB is folded accordion style and that there are actually three different PCBs for this 512GB drive.

Here is a shot with the PCBs fanned out in order to better show the three PCBs. Kingston informed us that they are using a Phison controller and Toshiba 19nm NAND Flash on the 512GB drive. The 1TB drive that is launching later this quarter will likely use different NAND.  Kingston is still working on developing the 1TB drive, but Legit Reviews was told that it would likely be using Micron NAND Flash.

As you can see eight 64GB Toshiba 19nm NAND Flash chips are used! Pretty cool stuff and now you know what is inside the largest USB 3.0 Flash drive being sold today!
