Windows 7 Users Excluded From DirectX 11.1 Update
Previous versions of Windows had at least two DirectX updates before they were retired, so XP got DX8 & 9, while Vista got DX10 & 11. However, it looks like in another incentive to get users to ditch Windows 7 for Windows 8, Microsoft will provide no DX update at all for Windows 7. At least there won't be any DX11.1 games in the near future. This information has come courtesy of Microsoft rep Daniel Moth in a post on the Microsoft MSDN support forum addressing a Windows programming question.
