Get Windows 8 Pro Media Centre For Free!
Unlike Windows 7, there's no version of Windows 8 that comes with Windows Media Centre (WMC). This is the software that allows a PC to become a high-powered digital video recorder (DVR) with the addition of a hardware tuner or two. But it can be added for free to Windows 8 Pro only, until January 31, 2013, when the initial Windows 8 upgrade offer expires.
Simply click on the link below, which takes you to the Microsoft offer page, give Microsoft your email address, type the captcha and you will be emailed the WMC product key at no charge. The offer is limited to one key per email address and the key must then be activated by January 31, 2013. Great offers like this may be pulled before the official expiry date however, so it's recommended to get this sooner rather than later. The key can then be used to upgrade Windows 8 Pro with WMC through the Add Features control panel. WMC will then download and install.
At the same time and on the same offer page, Microsoft is offering the Windows 8 Pro Pack for the reduced price of $69.99, adding back the features taken out of plain vanilla Windows 8. This offer is also valid until January 31, 2013.
