Serious Borderlands 2 Bug Wipes Out Your Badass Rank and a Whole Lot More

Modern video games have a tendency to be somewhat buggy upon release and it turns out that hot game of the moment, Gearbox Software's Borderlands 2 is no exception. This gremlin wipes out gamers' badass ranks, golden keys, heads and skins, with no chance to get them back. At times, a player's status can actually be lowered to unplayable levels and the bug doesn't seem to have any particular triggers to reliably set it off, either. Interestingly, the bug must be in a common bit of code, because it affects all platforms, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The video below shows this bug in action.

Unsurprisingly the Gearbox forums are alight with complaints about this problem, which community manager, Chris Faylor says is a "fairly rare" occurrence. He writes, "Thanks for all the reports and specific details, folks. Our engineers are looking into this, and the information you've provided has proven to be a great resource while we investigate. At the moment, it seems to be a fairly rare issue and we'll keep you updated on when we resolve it."

Perhaps instead of risking such a devastating loss right in the middle of gaming it might be prudent to wait until a patch is released for this infuriating bug before continuing to play the game.

So far one piece of advice in the forum tells players who log in to find wiped Badass Ranks or achievements to immediately quit the game and boot it back up.
