Prometheus Celebrates Digital HD Launch with Custom Beats Headphones
Last night at The Beats Store in New York City, Fox held a celebration for the release of Prometheus on Digital HD. Digital HD is a move by the film industry towards digital distribution and PROMETHEUS is the first major title to be released on the service. PROMETHEUS is now available on DIGITAL HD for less than $15. This means that you can get this movie three weeks before Blu-ray, DVD and video-on-demand (VOD) releases come out! Digital HD releases will come directly from Fox. The movies themselves will be a one-time purchase of $15 – afterwards, you’ll be able to access the movie via cloud storage from any device you own and you can watch it an unlimited number of times. PROMETHEUS on DIGITAL HD is also Fox’s first UltraViolet-enabled title.
“With almost 800 million broadband connected devices globally, and millions of people accessing entertainment on those devices, we feel the medium’s time has come,” said Mike Dunn, President Worldwide, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. “DIGITAL HD redefines digital ownership in a way that presents consumers with a full range of benefits in a coherent way, and it allows them the chance to build digital movie collections that can literally be carried in the palms of their hands.”
