Microsoft Plans Windows 8 New York Launch Party for October 25
Microsoft has previously confirmed that it will launch Windows 8 at the stroke of midnight on October 26. It was also rumoured that a launch party was due to be held before midnight in New York. Now, Microsoft has officially confirmed these rumours by sending an email to various members of the media, which contained the graphic below featuring a smiling lady using a laptop, inviting them to "save the date" of October 25 for a Windows 8 celebration. Again, the city is known, but the exact place and time have still not been revealed and when c|net emailed requesting clarification for these details, Microsoft rebuffed them, saying that there is "nothing more to share at this time". Ouch. Expected to be available to buy on the 26th are of course Windows 8, Microsoft's Surface tablet and a host of other related products.
The company today sent out an invite to a Windows 8 celebration for October 25 in New York City. Microsoft didn't offer up any details on the announcement, including the location or the time. The company also didn't say exactly what it plans to discuss, though it's easy enough to guess.
