NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Surfaces, Gets OEM Version First

The long-awaited NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 has surfaced on none other than GeForce.com and with it the card's specifications, however it is an OEM-only model. Still it was a bit of a surprise to see an OEM model launch first. That said, the specs look solid with NVIDIA apparently disabling two SMX units giving the GPU 1152 CUDA cores with a base clock of 823 MHz and a boost clock of 888 MHz. Meanwhile the frame buffer comes in two sizes, 1.5 GB or 3 GB of GDDR5, both of which are running at 5.8 Gbps on a 192-bit bus which offers 134 GB/s of memory bandwidth. The card also comes in light on power usage, with a TDP of just 130 W with only one 6-pin PCIe power connector needed. The GPU also has a max temp of 97°C. Other than that the card carries the same features shown on previous Kepler models. The only unanswered question is if it is GK104 or GK106, with it appearing far more likely to be the former rather than the latter. Now considering NVIDIA has a penchant for keeping OEM cards slightly different compared to retail, it's unknown if these specifications will be the same on the retail release. Overall it shouldn't matter though, as the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 OEM being put up on the site means a retail card can't be that far behind and with the specifications listed comes a good idea of its performance as well. This should be good news for the many gamers still waiting on a sub-$300 powerhouse. Check the source below for further information on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (OEM).
