[Updated] Sapphire Toxic HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB Discontinued
UPDATE: the card is not discontinued after all.
Radeon enthusiasts who were eagerly looking to get their hands on the Sapphire Toxic HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB will be gutted. This card, the only HD 7970 so far to feature a massive 6GB video memory, has been cancelled by Sapphire even before it was put on sale. The picture below from Newegg shows this:
Sales of the HD 7970 series in general have not been stellar, because the HD 7950 and GTX 680 perform so well against it both in price and performance, providing it with some serious competition. At a pricey $699.99 it was likely to remain a niche, low volume product, so it looks like Sapphire figured they wouldn't make a profit out of it and axed it. Below, is an unboxing video of the card.
