Buffalo Readies 2 Terabyte Impact-Resistant MiniStation HDPNTU3 Portable HDD

Buffalo has just announced the release of a new 2 terabyte MiniStation HDPNTU3 portable HDD. The new larger capacity variant will be added to a product lineup that is well known for its fast USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface and shock-absorbing internal drive frame. The enhanced impact-resistant design will use a hybrid structure that consists of a "shock-absorbing rubber" and "shock-absorbing frame" which is the main selling point for this portable storage option. Buffalo however has not given an exact shock tolerance, but it should of course be far higher than typical portable solutions. The model (HD-PNT2.0U3-GBJ) as we mentioned will use the USB 3.0 interface which will also be providing power to the unit. Buffalo has also included their Turbo PC software in order to further improve drive access speeds by up to 2 times. Data-encryption hasn't taken a back seat either with native 256-bit AES encryption provided by Buffalo's software. The 2 TB MiniStation will measure just 82 x 117 x 22mm and comes in at 260 g in weight. Pricing looks to be around US $390 with a release sometime in late-June.
