Lite-On Zeta SATA SSDs Coming To Consumer Market in 2015

Rumors of a new line of Lite-On Solid-State Drives (SSDs) have been floating around the web in recent weeks and thanks to a leak from China it appears the new Lite-On Zeta SSD Series has become public knowledge. Plextor have been in the OEM market for SSDs for some time, but Zeta will be the first consumer SSD under the Lite-On brand name. Lite-On subsidiary Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions Corporation (PLDS) acquired the rights for Plextor products and consumer SSDs have been sold under Plextor in recent years.

The Lite-On ZETA SSD series will be offered in three capacities: 128GB (LCH-128V2S), 256GB (LCH-256V2S) and 512GB (LCH-512V2S). All use Silicon Motions SM2246EN controller,LPDDR3 DRAM cache and SK hynixs 16nm MLC NAND Flash. The DRAM Cache is proportional to the capacity of the SSD, which is unique. For example a 128GB SSD gets 128MB of cache and a 256GB SSD gets 256MB of cache. The Lite-On Zeta SSD Series will have a maximum sequential read speed of 520MB/s and the sequential write speed ranges from a rather slow 150MB/s on the 128GB drive up to 430MB/s on the 512GB drive. The Lite-On Zeta 512GB SATA III SSD has 4K Random IOPS ratings of 83,500 Read and 80,000 Write.
