Key Ingredient Recipe Tablet Review
Final Thoughts on the Key Ingredient Recipe Tablet
Key Ingredient Recipe Final Thoughts:
The Key Ingredient Recipe Tablet helps get your kitchen organized by basically eliminating the need for cookbooks, recipes written on notes and so on. You can easily look up a recipe as there are over 2,000,000 that are online with the app and you have access to all of them. You can also add in or import recipes from other sources and have more meal ideas than what you’ll need this lifetime! The Key Ingredient App does what is supposed to do and works fairly well. The only problem is that App can be downloaded for free and put on your Android or iOS smartphone or tablet right now. We downloaded the App to our phones and noticed that we got pop up ads and the text-to-speech technology was missing, but that was it. Why do you need another tablet in the home when you can download an app to an existing device? The Key Ingredient Recipe Tablet was obviously designed for those that want something to leave in the kitchen and take kitchen abuse. At $79.95 shipped from Amazon the Key Ingredient Recipe Tablet is rather inexpensive. If we dropped it on the floor or in a boiling pot of water we wouldn’t lose any sleep over breaking it. The same can’t be said about our high-end smartphones and tablets that cost over $399 each.
The performance of the Key Ingredient Recipe Tablet itself was a bit underwhelming. You have to keep in mind that this is a sub $80 by GPCT MID and it has some issues. The display flat out sucks. The viewing angles are horrible, the aspect ratio makes things look jagged and features like auto brightness are missing. We also ran into some other issues like Chrome failing to start after the latest update, wireless connectivity issues and some apps that needed more than 512MB to run. We kept telling ourselves that this is an $80 tablet, but if you are used to using something like an iPad, Galaxy Tab or ASUS Google Nexus 7 you’ll see the differences right away. If you have never owned a tablet before you might not know any better, but in time you’ll figure it out.
At the end of the day the Key Ingredient Recipe Tablet is cool and we are glad to see the $150 MSRP is not what they are selling for. At $79.95 shipped you get a entry-level tablet with a 90-day warranty to bang around the kitchen. The coolest part about the tablet would have to be the protective case with the built-in kick stand. Does that feature alone make you want to get your wallet out and get one? We suggest trying out the free app for iOS and/or Android and see how you like it. If you find yourself using it a ton on your smartphone or expensive tablet it might not be a bad idea to drop $80 on the Key Ingredient Recipe Tablet and let it get abused in the kitchen.
Legit Bottom Line: Key Ingredient’s software is solid, but the Recipe Tablet was a bit underwhelming due to the tablet itself. That said the $80 price point is only slightly higher than where entry-level 7-inch Android 4.4 Kitkat tablets start and you get a cool case and some features not found on the free Key Ingredient Recipes app.
