Gelid Silent Spirit LGA 1366 CPU Cooler Review

Test System

Today’s review was performed on both the Core i7 and Phenom II test systems. Ambient temperatures were maintained at 21 Celsius throughout all the testing. Testing was performed with neither a case nor additional case fans; only the heatsink fan and GPU fans were running. For the heatsink tests I used Arctic Silver Ceramique and I also compared the bundled GC-1 to Arctic Cooling Ceramique.

All tests were performed three times and the average temperature of the three runs was reported. Idle temperatures were measured after 15 minutes at idle and load temperatures were taken after 97% completion through wPrime 1024M. The latest Core Temp and AMD OverDrive were used to measure temperatures. The Phenom II probe read artificially low, and after extensive testing with my thermal probe touching various portions of the IHS, I corrected the temperature readings by increasing all values by 11 Celsius.
