Fortnite Battle Royale Mode May Get Swords

Fortnite already has swords in the Save the World mode, but it looks as if they might be coming to Battle Royale as well. There have been hints that swords would land in the popular mode, but a new data mine shows some code that has to do with the new melee weapon.

The code text that was found reads “BRsword sound files Part:1” and there are listings in the code for lots of other sword sound related files. In the tweet embedded below, you can watch as FortTory goes through the sound files and gives them a listen. Fortnite fans who like to get up close and personal should be excited at swords as a potential option.

If this data mine wasn’t enough for you, the main image in this story was spied in the loading screen for Fortnite Week 1 of Season 7. The Ice King and Sgt. Winter also each have swords. It’s not clear if they are the same sword with different wraps or if they are completely different weapons.

Swords that have been featured in Fortnite in the past include the Ruler Sword, the Shortblade, the Two-Handed Sword, the Machete, the Ninjato, the Highlander, the Argon Axe among others reports VGR. Will swords be something you use if they land in Fortnite Battle Royale?
