Do Memory Heat Spreaders Make A Difference?

Here?s a shot of the heatspreader removed.

There?s a thin layer of tape that crosses all the ICs and connects the ?grille? portion of the heatspreader to them. Then there?s another thin layer of tape that connects the ?frame? portion of the heatspreader to the ?grille? portion. (Shown Below)

It?s hard to keep the ?grille? section from bending when you remove it. They?re very flexible and lightweight metal.
