ASUS EAH5870 Voltage Tweak Video Card
Retail Box and Bundle
The retail box for the ASUS EAH5870 lists the features that the card comes with a key to activate the off-road racing game Colin McRae: DiRT 2. Colin McRae: DiRT 2 is one of the most anticipated racing games of the year and will take full advantage of DirectX 11, adding realism to the racing environment. The game also will have hardware tessellation that is said to improve the appearance of water and other surfaces, as well as crowd animations. Utilizing the EGO Engine, DiRT 2 should raise the bar for PC gaming and is a definite must-have for PC gamers as it will have cars and tracks twice as detailed as those seen in Race Driver: GRID. This is likely a $50 game title, so to have that included in the card’s $379.99 purchase price is very nice.
Turning the retail box over, we see even more marketing text in a couple different languages. The ASUS EAH5870 retail box isn’t lacking any text, so let’s take a peek inside.
The ASUS EAH5870 bundle included with the EAH5870/G/2DIS/1GD5/A graphics card includes a single DVI-to-VGA adapter, a quick install guide, a dual 4-pin molex to single 6-pin PCIe power adapter, CrossFire bridge, a drivers CD, the multi-language manual CD and a product key for the PC game Colin McRae: DiRT 2.
Taking a closer look at the VGA driver disc we can see that it also comes with three utilities that might come in handy.
- ASUS GamerOSD – Overclock during gameplay
- ASUS SmartDoctor – Overclocking and Intelligent Hardware Protection Tool
- ASUS VideoSecurity – Online private security system utility (you need a camera installed)
The one that we are highly interested in for this review is the ASUS SmartDoctor utility as that will allow us to adjust the card’s voltages and to overclock it to the max!
