Amazon Echo Show has a 7-inch Touchscreen

Amazon has unveiled a new product in its Echo line of voice activated speakers called the Echo Show. The big difference between this Alexa device and the others that are already on the market is that the Echo Show has an integrated 7-inch touchscreen and is sort of a mash up of a tablet and the Echo speakers.

It can do things like show you your front door security camera and allows you to watch videos. You can see the weather forecasts, not just hear them. Show comes in white or black colors and will sell for $229.99 when it launches on June 28. There are a bunch of things you can do on that display other than what I already mentioned.

You can see song lyrics that go along with your favorite music. Show also supports hands free video calls to other Show users or voice calls to other Echo or Echo Dot users. The speaker inside the device has Dolby processing for crisp vocals and extended bass.

Show has eight microphones inside and uses beam forming tech and noise cancellation. It will work with cameras from Rung or Arlo and can control other smart devices like thermostats or lights from Wemo, Philips Hue, ecobee, and more. Echo Show does require its own AC connection and supports your WiFi network via 802.11 a/b/g/n 2.4 and 5GHz networks.

The are dual 2-inch stereo speakers inside and runs the Alexa App. The processor is an Intel Atom x5-Z8350 and the Show has a 5MP digital camera. The Show measures 7.4″ x 7.4″ x 3.5″ and weighs 41 ounces. It’s worth noting that other than YouTube there is no mention of support for other streaming services such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.
