OTG 32GB USB Flash Drive Performance – CDM

CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3 x64:

CrystalDiskMark is a small benchmark utility for drives and enables rapid measurement of sequential and random read/write speeds. Note that CDM only supports Native Command Queuing (NCQ) with a queue depth of 32 (as noted) for the last listed benchmark score. We ran this benchmark with the default settings, so you can download it and easily run a speed test on your drive at home to see where you are at with what you already own.

Transcend JetFlash 380 32GB:

Benchmark Results: CrystalDiskMark showed major performance differences between the three 32GB OTG USB Flash drives!

Sequential Read/Write speeds on a PC:

  • Corsair Flash Voyager GO: 145MB/s Read & 21MB/s Write
  • Transcend JetFlash 380: 28MB/s Read & 13MB/s Write
  • Kingston DT MicroDuo: 28MB/s & 8MB/s Write

The Corsair Flash Voyager GO straight up owned the others when it came to read and write performance due to the fact Corsair went with a USB 3.0 controller and was able to come up with a very quick device. The Transcend JetFlash 380 performed pretty well and the Kingston DT MicroDuo came in with respectable read speeds, but very disappointing write speeds.
